Amines and optical properties of Titan’s aerosols

چکیده
This work deals with the optical characterization of Titan aerosol analogues or “tholins”. Those have been produced in different N2–CH4 gaseous mixtures to study the effect of the initial methane concentration on their optical properties. We studied the FIRand MID-IR absorption properties on the SMIS beamline of the French SOLEIL synchrotron. And we determined the UV-visible-near IF optical indices by using the spectroscopic ellipsometry technique in the 370-1000 nm wavelength range.

متن کاملOptical properties of analogs of Titan’s aerosols produced by dusty plasma
Analogs of Titan’s aerosols are produced in the laboratory as grains in a gas mixture, or as layers on a substrate. This production procedure enables the methane-nitrogen mixture composition to be changed. The aim of this paper is to understand the variations observed on the linear polarization of the scattered light as a function of the production conditions. The influence of the concentration...
متن کاملThe Organic Aerosols of Titan’s Atmosphere
One of Titan's many characteristics is the presence of a haze that veils its surface. This haze is composed of heavy organic particles and determining the chemical composition of these particles is a primary objective for future probes that would conduct in situ analysis. Meanwhile, solar occultations provide constraints on the optical characteristics of the haze layer. This paper describes sol...
متن کاملIon chemistry and N-containing molecules in Titan’s upper atmosphere
High-energy photons, electrons, and ions initiate ion–neutral chemistry in Titan’s upper atmosphere by ionizing the major neutral species (nitrogen and methane). The Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer (INMS) onboard the Cassini spacecraft performed the first composition measurements of Titan’s ionosphere. INMS revealed that Titan has the most compositionally complex ionosphere in the Solar Syste...
